The Story

Brand new in 2014, the Mission Creek trail system becomes the first professionally built trail system in Duluth and establishes itself as the western bookend of the Duluth Traverse trail system.   With the aid of a State Legacy Grant,  Federal Recreational Trails Program Grant, and assistance from the City of Duluth, COGGS was able to hire Progressive Trail Design of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Rock Solid Trails of Copper Harbor, Michigan to complete phases 1 and 2 of this destination trail system.

Complete in the 2014 riding season is Phase 1, approximately 7 miles of machine-built Singletrack.  By the end of the 2015 season, Phase 1 construction will bring the total trail length to over 12 miles.   COGGS has mapped and reviewed an additional 11 miles of trail, that will bring the entire trail system up to 23 miles when complete!

The trail is best accessed from Chambers Grove Park in the Fond du Lac neighborhood of Duluth.  Riders have the option of climbing the lower cathedral trail, or taking Highway 210 to access the rest of the trails.

The Ride

Fast and flowing singletrack with many bridges, berms, and rollers.  This trail network traverses through a dramatic, heavily forested, landscape with spectacular views of the St. Louis River Valley and Jay Cooke State Park.
