  • Ansel Schimpff

    EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    Contact: executivedirector@coggs.com

About me: As a lifelong mountain biker, my journey has taken me through some of the best biking destinations across the country. After a decade of exploring new trails, my family and I put down roots in Duluth, where access to trails is truly unbeatable—especially with two young kids in tow. With a background in trail building and cycling advocacy, I’m excited to bring my experience to the community and help expand access to the incredible trail network that Duluth has to offer.

    Favorite Local Trail: Piedmont

  • Jake Boyce

    BOARD CHAIR

    Contact: chair@coggs.com

About me: Found mountain biking by getting lost in Hartley long before trail maps were a thing. I've been playing with bikes ever since then. If not riding, you'll find me chasing my children, wife and dog, plotting with Day Tripper of Duluth, working at one of the local bike shops, or riding around in an ambulance.

     Favorite Local Trail: Stone Age

  • Dustin Voorhees

    Vice Chair

    Contact: vicechair@coggs.com

About me: I started mountain biking while attending college at UMD where I fell in love with both the sport and the city of Duluth. After graduation I moved down to Minneapolis but always wanted to get back to Duluth. Finally in the fall of 2020 my partner and I were able to move back up! Since moving back I’ve rediscovered my love of mountain biking through helping with the enduro series, getting my girlfriend into riding, and meeting new friends! When not on my mountain bike I enjoy fly fishing, XC skiing in the winter, chasing my dog around or basically anything that gets me outside!

Favorite Local Trail: My favorite ride is the traverse from my house by Hartley over to Enger and taking the Craft Connector down to Lincoln Park for food and beer!

  • Abi Lingwall

    RIDE DIRECTOR

    Contact: rides@coggs.com

About Me: I started mountain biking over 10 years ago and truthfully, didn’t like it at all. Fast forward to 2020 when I found a group of people who talked me into giving mountain biking another shot. I quickly fell in love with it and realized that it was all about being surrounded with the best people and community. I have since started gravel biking as well which has been very fun. I have lived in Duluth since moving here in 2011 for college. When I’m not biking, I enjoy fishing with my partner (AKA-tanning and reading a book on the boat), XC skiing, and spending time at home with my partner and two doggos. When I’m not playing outside, I work as a Mental Health Professional.

Favorite Local Trail: My favorite trail system in Duluth is probably Hartley. It has a little bit of everything which makes it great for all riders!

  • Jenny Arndt

    MARKETING DIRECTOR

    Contact:  marketing@coggs.com

About Me: I initially came to Duluth for college in 2017, and stayed because it really is the outdoor sports Mecca of the midwest. A skier at heart, I got a job at Ski Hut where I was then introduced to the wonderful world of biking and have fallen in love with the awesome community built around it! After a bad crash on the MTB my first season out, you’ll find me mostly on a gravel bike toolin’ around the backroads, but now slowly but surely I’m getting back in the MTB saddle and am excited to venture back out onto the trails! When I’m not riding, you’ll find me skiing, exploring, or trying to get involved in the outdoor community however my skills allow!

Favorite local trail: Not Happy Camper, but when you do find me on the MTB trails I love the gravity trails in the area!

  • David Baldus

    MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

    Contact: membership@coggs.com

About me: Hi, I’m David! Bikes have always been my favorite outlet for exercise, transportation, and community building. The focus shifted to mountain bikes when I moved up from the cities for grad school. I love just about every kind of two-wheeled recreation; from big dumb all-day adventures to short jaunts in the woods with friends! My favorite thing about our trails here in Duluth is that anytime you’re out on them you probably are going to run into a handful of neighbors and friends. If I’m not on my bike you probably find me hiking around with my dogs, splashing around in a creek, or otherwise enjoying being outside!

Favorite Local Trail: Anything with a good group of pals! Craft Connector is a really special one…so is that little set of jumps heading west on Antenna Farm.

  • Jakob Wartman

    SECRETARY

    Contact: secretary@coggs.com

About Me: Recovering runner that tries to live "Trails for All." I love the Twin Ports for its accessibility and commitment to creating great outdoor opportunities in our backyards. I’ve probably traversed most every trail by multiple means either running, biking, hiking, skiing, or chasing my two boys. A campaigner for an uphill enduro series, my mountain biking style can be summarized as “go hard on the ups and ride brakes on the down.

    Favorite Local Trail: Mission

  • Abby Savolt

    TREASURER

    Contact: treasurer@coggs.com

About me: I moved to Duluth to study at UMD and have called Duluth home ever since. I have always loved biking and grew up riding a tandem bike to school with my best friend. When I bought my first road bike I was convinced I’d never get a mountain bike, but then I tried mountain biking for the first time in 2016 and I continue to fall more in love with it every ride! When I’m not biking or working as a CPA for Tax Management Services. I enjoy skiing, climbing and gardening.

Favorite Local Trail: I don’t have just one. I love the variety of trails available in Duluth. There are so many options I never get sick of any of them.

  • Ben Johnson

    VOLUNTEER DIRECTOR

    Contact: volunteer@coggs.com

About me: I became singletrack-infected during covid at Redhead and then moved to Duluth a couple years ago. I find mountain biking is a perfect blend of fitness, skill building, adrenaline, and connection with people and nature. When I'm not on trails, I'm either doing software development or playing my french horn in various ensembles.

    Favorite Local Trail: Hawk Ridge

  • Nathan Shaw

    TRAILS DIRECTOR

    Contact: trails@coggs.com

About me: As a lifelong Duluthian, I grew up riding and have watched the trails evolve from sparsely maintained deer paths in Hartley with old wooden signs nailed to trees to a robust network of cross-city singletrack that is considered one of the best ride destinations in the country. I am a high school English teacher for Duluth Public Schools, which has afforded me time in the summer to volunteer with the Lester trail crew as a trail steward for the last 3 years. When I'm not riding myself, I can be found cheering for my son at DEVO events, snowboarding, paddling canoes with my family, and trying to learn how to skate ski.

Favorite Local Trail: Wherever I can go fast and not crash. With the variety and accessibility in Duluth, there is no way I can choose.
